First time changing belts. How do I know which tensioners I have?

Going to be replacing belts (and possibly pulleys) trying to get rid of a whining/whirring noise.
The AC belt tensioner seems pretty straight forward, but what is the process to undo the serpentine belt tensioner? How can I tell if I have a mechanical or hydraulic tensioner?
Is the process different to relieve tension in both applications?

Its a really easy process to do
I would suggest that you simply have a look on you tube where there are many posts removing and replacing them.
You can also get a visual example of the different tensioners.
Although, if you have two belts on your E60 I would say that you have the spring tensioner
good luck
