Thanks for your sympathy, that sure was close.
So I couldn't see the pothole last night, but today I drove by and checked it. Sharp asphalt edges, 30-40cm (12-16") by it's diameter and deep as h ll...
My driving today was all about analyzing the ride over and over again !

I am happy to hear that your rims survived unscathed.

You guys should see the potholes here in Africa! More potholes than road!!! Low profile tyres not really an option here.

glad to hear they survived, if only you saw the craters and canyons around london, mainly east london to be precise

Luckily my speed was only about 20-25 km/h (14-17 mph) at that area so it didn't make damage, but damn that bang was loud and hard!
At first I was sure I damaged both my right side wheels, but fortunately I didn't. After immediate investigation I took the car to the highway to feel any vibrations at higher speeds. Nothing. I felt SO relieved...

My car had only been driven 200km when I hit the first pothole with it...and that bang sure is terrible! I havent changed the rims yet so those runflats took it well and no damage. But the feeling before you knew did you have any damage...

hi,
Last year on one str etch of road a70 in Scotland in a 6 week period i lost 3 18inch tyres and 2 rims. One of the rims that my 275s were on in the rear had halved in two round the circumference. The tyre guy still has it on his wall said he nevere seen it before. Changed my 18s for 16s, looks crap but never had any more problems.
On this one road in an evening 24 cars had to be uplifted due to wheel damage.
As long as the local council have a road management policy in place, its very difficult to get money out of them.
cheers
