I know that with time i get more. Its just always sad to see the very first one! My car was perfect until yesterday, now I have a dent, although very tiny, but still. No problem, the paint is not damaged, will fix it (what a waste of $50 LOL)

hey I guess I'm part of your club after today. Just got mine done today. Stupid bastard. So I parked my car behind the corner, went back and kicked his door.........
I would love to see a video or pic of what your foot did to his door. Do you know martial arts? If you did, your foot would have done a great deal of damage to the culprit.

This occurance is know as sods law! I had a Peugeot 406 as a company car back in 97 and I hated it with a vengence. I used to park in the tightest spots you could imagine just hoping that someone would give it a damn good bashing. Well you've guessed it - sods law came into play and it never seemed to get a dink anywhere.

Different story with my e39 though - just couldn't prevent the dink devils no matter how careful I was. (Thankfully have managed to avoid them with the E60 for now. Maybe using the wife's E46 when I go anywhere which may involve parking in close proximity to other vehicles helps?)

Anyway, another explanation might be that if you park real close to the other cars, the doors can't open so viciously as they might with a bigger distance to travel before they make contact. (It's usually the point at which the door break gets past the initial stopping point before springing onto the end stop, which causes the damage cos the dimwit opening it doesn't have the strength to hold onto it).

Its not just someone elses doors, on previous cars Ive had supermarket trollies pushed up against the car, and in a DIY store car park I watched a guy lift a piece of lumber, catch the car look at his work and carry on as if nothing had happened until I got up in his face. Some people are totally inconsiderate.

Like anyone would actually wait till the owner shows up to admit he/she dented your car... :-)
Its the way things are - door dings are the fact of life. Sadly.

I bought a selfmagnetic sticker used for removable auto signs. It is basicaly the same you use like the souvenires sticker on your refrigerator. But I bought a large sheet of this. I will cut it in to a 4 pieces for each door and glue some foamy material on it.
so while parking in dent high risk area I will just stick it on to my doors. It will be black so hardly visible on orient blue car. I just worry that this might provoke some idiot to actually key my car
And I thought I was a little crazy about my car, this is insane dude! It's not a priceless museum piece. The moment I get this anal about my car, it stops being enjoyable. Just drive it.

My wife went to the supermarket on a windy day last year. Came out to her car to see the door of her RX destroyed. From what we can tell, someone in a full size RED van must have parked next to her and the door got away from them in the wind. I believe the damage was $1,900 - FROM ONE DOOR DING - ok it was a smash and it was brutal - top to bottom. I just wish there had been a camera in the parking lot.

Peter you are a bad boy I can't believe you did that

I park my car so far from other cars that I get such a good workout walking...
I also walk around the car a full circle to check for dents before I get in every time I know...crazy woman
