Rudy,

Thanks, that was my thought exactly, Black is a beauty too, but white shows less dirt, scratches, etc.

For me, this is my first bmw 8 cylinder. I've had 1998 528 and 2001 330i, i have enjoyed the 6 cylinder up to now and wanted a change. how does your past 540 compare to 545 in terms of performance?

tekor: It's definitely too soon to tell re: acceleration because I can't push it yet and please don't make me! I'm only going from 324 ft.-lbs. at 3600 rpm to 330 ft.-lbs. also at 3600, so that's not much and I don't really know scientifically if that can be felt. The 540i was a most fantastic car. So far, I have not found anything about the 545i that I don't like better, except one thing that I knew about going in and that was the width. I didn't like them widening the car but it's less than 1" on each side and it hasn't really felt wider. Everything is better, including external and interior looks, IMO. I'm still getting used to having a more sensitive transmission with the step. Do I need 8 cylinders to get to work and back? Probably not, but it sure feels great having them! Give me 1000 more miles and hopefully I can have more feedback for you but you'll probably have yours before then. It sounds like it's going to be hard for you to wait out the break-in period!

I'm done with break-in and all I can say is that BMW took a perfect car (E39) and perfected it!

The 545 engine has more pull (not that the 540 was any slouch), the handling is superb, the active steering is superb, etc., etc.

This is one amazing automobile!

Honored Guest: When you enter your vin in the shipping company web site, it will pop up with what boat it's on and give you a clickable itinerary link. Do a search here with 'tracking' in the title, for the last 60 or 90 days and the first multi-page post you see will have the above link in the first post of the thread.

Very accurate...my 545 was on the Jingo Maru scheduled into NY on May 23. I received a call from my dealership yesterday that the car had arrived into port on Sunday and I'd have it by the end of the week.

Hi..

According to BMWNA... The car has left the port of exit on th 24th. I went to www.2wglobal.com and typed in my vin # today for auto tracking... Unfortunately, no record found. Do you guys know if it takes time to update their system. tks

It might not be on Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines. Ask BMWNA for the line and the BL#. With some lines there is no tracking possible, but you can keep digging with the carrier until you find the date of arrival in your port. Good luck. Being in limbo is the absolute pits.
