In all honesty...my '95 525i with Michelins and 250K miles rode better on the highway than my brand new '08 535i with those Dunlop run-flats. I couldn't believe it when I first got my 535i, but that is a fact...I was pretty disappointed. Well...at 37K miles, I have new tires...the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S...and after one trip to work (100 miles of Interstate), I am please to announce that "I am back in a REAL 5-series again"!!! To compare the those Dunlop run-flats to these Michelin non-flats is larger than apples to oranges...seriously. I could go on and on about the improvement in ride, handling, and noise...but I won't.

I will close with this....if you have the Dunlop run-flats and you think your car rides good...I suspect you are driving your first BMW. Because that is NOT how a BMW is suppose to ride/feel. When the time comes for new tires...get some good non run-flats. THEN, you will know what I am talking about. It's amazing the difference tires can make...guess it shouldn't be a suprise though...I mean they ARE what actually touches the ground! Oh happy day for me...

Totally agree.

Those Dunlops are so noisy, very slippery and nothing compared to a good set of Michelins or Pirellis.

I had General UHPs before putting on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S and wow what a big quality difference even THAT was. I cant' imagine runflats.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S is the exact tire I'm changing to once the Dunlop run flats are done for. Really looking forward to the new shoes for my baby girl!

I'm glad I read this. Last weekend I mounted a set of xi 124's with the Dunlop SP Sport 01 runflats and all week I've been thinking about going back to my 17's because the ride is now absolutely horrible. Feels almost like I'm driving on bowling balls instead of rubber. When going over any type of bump the car feels "squirrely" if thats the right word, like when you are driving on a metal grate bridge. They are noisy as hell and very harsh (to me) and my 535 feels like an entirely different car now. I even took the PSI down to 34 rear and 33 front and while it is a bit of an improvement its still not what I'm looking for. Now that I've read this I will investigate a bit more and find suitable replacements. There have recently been quite a few WTB's in the classifieds for the Dunlops so perhaps they will go to someone who prefers this type of ride. Can anyone else chime in on your experiences with replacing Dunlop SP Sport 01 runflats?
