My Ride: 95 M3 CAI, chipped, pulleys, Xbrace, doesn't give headaches every time I start up! 04 545i all the goodies INCLUDING HEADACHES!

After having the valve and timing cover gaskets replaced I still have a sever oil leak on the drivers side of the engine. It turned out to be a hidden gasket under the alternator mounting plate.
It's number 2 in the diagram. Final cost at my Indy was $400.00. He said it was a #@&# id a job. At least I won't be having to clean up the oil in my driveway for awhile!

That's what my Indy said. He calls it the gasket to nowhere. Could have been used as a port for pressure testing during manufacturing.
It's subject to heat cycles, gets brittle and starts leaking, bad. Look forward to replacing it in your V8! Mine's good for another 90K
