The BMW Group in the U.S. (BMW and MINI combined) today reported February vehicle sales of 24,190, slightly down by 1.8 percent from the 24,642 vehicles sold in the same month of 2007. Year-to-date, BMW Group sales are down 11.5 percent, to 41,125 vehicles versus the 46,453 sold in the first two months of 2007.

E60 sales were up 27.6% over February, 2007. Sales of the 7 series also posted a big gain - late model deals before the new one comes out? The X5 is doing well, and so is Mini. Otherwise, the rest of the BMW lineup is down for the year so far.

BMW adds: "Upcoming new products like the BMW 1 Series Coupe and Convertible, BMW's Sports Activity Coupe X6, and the new twin-turbo charged Advanced Diesel engines for the 3 Series and the X5 all arriving later this year will push sales volumes again. MINI continues its success story in the U.S. with the launch of its third variant - the all new MINI Clubman - which hit the showrooms in February." What, no mention of the M3?

(I know Rudy likes to post these numbers, but I saw this early today and thought I would just go ahead and get it posted - sorry if I stepped on you Rudy).

It appears that new vehicles sales are softening along with the general economic environment . Conversely, and supported by the same rationale, CPO sales continue to post strong gains. The spike in E60 sales vs year ago is likely the phase out of the pre LCI prior to the intro of the 08's..............I'm not so sure I share the BMW Braintrusts' theory that these declines will be offset by new product intro's as they suggest .................. like I said last month when these figures were released "one month does not a year make" but I think a trend may be emerging here

can you say 535 twin turbo, the down side is that us E60 owners who have other than the 535 cars aren't really worth a dam on trade in or private sale .

Not according to my dealer, the 535 is the preferred 6 cylinder and sales of the V8's are not trending worse than the total 5 series trend.Your rationale should be considered vs the 3 as well

Yes, a 40% gain in CPO sales year-to-date is telling. Even still, total BMW sales and re-sales are slower so far this year.

No doubt the economy is struggling, maybe even in a recession. It's going to be a tough year for auto companies.

it would be the same if i had the 3 series as well. When that car came out you should have seen the used lots 325,330, 530,545,525 as far as the eye can see..It will be that way if and when the twin turbo V8 5 series comes out

Just shows what a $2500 incentive can do to move cars.

I personally have seen a huge increase in new e60s on the road lately. There easy to spot with the new LED tailights...
