hi
i live in maryland , i drive my car around 3 days a week , hv my japanese car for rainy days
this is gonna be my first winter with bmw and run flat dunlops, it does not snow much here , may be a 2-3 times in winter, do i really need winter tires?
are run flats bad in only snow or over alll winter weather?
any suggestions wud be greatly appreciated

If you have 'rainy day cars' I would keep those for the few times we get snow in this area. Since moving to the metro DC area I no longer spend money on winter tires but my BMW will stay in the driveway when there is threat of snow. The BMWs I've had with winter tires did well in the snow but sport tires should not be used. Run flats themselves have little to do with snow. The wife's car has run flats but they're all season tires and work well with up to about 5-6" of snow. When the white stuff hits the ground I'll take my Land Rover. I woudn't drive my BMW (or any other car) with sport tires in even 1/2" of snow.
