My 530i has a faint smell of burning oil during serious acceleration at high speeds. I know my 99 Sonata has this but it's not a well maintained machine like my 530i.

The oil was last changed about 3000 miles ago and iDrive shows about 12k left before it's next oil change.

What gives?

Yep, I get it too. I've taken my car to the dealer 3 times on the issue. The 3rd time they said a gasget was leaking and they fixed it. Well, like 3 days later same shit happened. I've almost given up. Not sure what it is.

I think its the slight carbon build up during light driving and when driven hard it burns off and comes through the open air vents. Most cars if not all have this "faint burning smell" when driven hard.

I have the same issue never thought much of it. Plus they say its normal for our cars to burn a bit of oil.

Cool then. I won't trip about it. But uh, why would our cars be known for burning a little oil? Isn't that a horrible thing?

I'm a little hesitant going to the dealer and saying.... I smell oil at high speeds. I mean what are they really going to do?
