Facelift Changes
#1
Talk me out of it.
Do I need a MY07 or later 535d? Yes the power has been upped marginally but nothing an ECU update wouldn't sort. The changes to the M-Sports are minimal as seen in these pics
Facelift
Pre-Facelift (MY05)
The interior is slightly different around the shifter, but what the hell is that shifter and what does it do that a pre facelift won't
Thanks
Mark

Personally I don't like the different LCI boot . Major changes are about the interior : a little more quality and some buttons .
But the LCI ashtray is horrible .
If you have an E60 and you aren't on lease .. Keep it, imho .

The headlights and tail lights are much better as well as the interior, if the car has SAT that's a nice plus as well ................

Apart from teh cosmetic int and ext changes, the biggest technological improvements are:
- better automatic tranny that uses less of the torque converter in all gears.
- sportautomatic availability on the 535d - faster shift times, paddle shifter, sporty driveability etc.
- the newer engine that consumes about 2l less in average according to the EU norm
- less vibrations
- less diesel noise felt inside because of better insulation

To be honest, I can't wait to get LCI - the pre-LCI has some details that could have been done much better (interior quality and ergonomics mostly).
The answer is yes, it is worth getting LCI as always with all BMW models!

My Ride: 07 E61 530d M-Sport.
The LCI also gained all the xtras for efficient dynamics and new auto gearboxes that helped improve fuel economy. I paid a little more for an LCI car as I consider the improvements to be well worth it.

I went through that decision 2 or 3 months ago when I got my second E60. Personally, I do want the new headlights and tail lights, other than that, I don't mind the little differences of the interior. After remap and everything, my 520d will run practically the same or more than the LCI 520d, so I don't see the point of paying extra for the LCI at the time. I preferred to pay less and do more mods on the car.
