Since every new car only comes with 2 Remote/FOBs and I think we will need 3, I am wondering if anyone knows how much it costs for the extra remote (incl. programing and key cutting). This is for a MY07 car without comfort access. I have already looked at the faq section and also done a search but came up with nothing. Thanks!

About $125 for parts and 30 mins of labor... which is roughly $110 an hour...

The $125 part is about right but your dealer actually charges 1/2 hour of labor for the 5 minute programming procedure? The service advisor simply walked out to my car and did it, no charge.

Yup I was there when the SA next to me quoted the other guys 7 series... I never had it done on my car... but thats what I heard another SA say to another customer...

Ya its a simple job. I think i have the instructions to program a regular key. Not sure if the new key slot one is the same way to program.

Wow, maybe the dealer in Houston just felt sorry for me since I had lost my spare in the flood following Katrina. Guess charging for programming is normal...

My dealership has free key fobs located in the cars on the showroom floor.

I have a dumb question- what does "FOB" standfor? I know what it is, but I don't know why it's called that...
