I am writing in regards to a previous post I made about my engine stalling and jumping while driving.

I just got one reply saying that maybe its bad injectors or a fuel pumps.

I was worried that it may be a transmission problem.

I took my car into BMW under extended warranty to get a diagnostic.

To my surprise they said that my ignition coil needed to be replaced and that was it.

Does this make sense to anybody? Does a bad ignition coil cause a car to stall out and hiccup?

I'm having a hard time trusting the new SA they put me with cause my extended warranty company is saying that BMW is up-charging me more than double the book price, and they can't pay more than what some book says. On top of that I paid 160 or so for an alignment that they messed up and they the SA said that's the best they can do with 20 inch rims. They said i had a bent rim that was making it go off. If you pay 160 for an alignment shouldn't it be perfect?

So with my $200 deductible, the $247 my warranty company thinks it should be, and the $560 BMW is asking for. I'm not getting very much from my extended warranty.

I have no idea what to do.

Always a fineprint on extened warranty. As for the alignment, Firestone offers lifetime for just $179. I've had 3 it done 3 X this year with coilovers adjusted up/down/up/down. Running 19's and latest alignment is velvety smooth. GL

I had a coil replaced on my 05 545 at my local Indy for $121.00. Car had the same symptoms as yours.

WOW yeah they are definitely up-charging like crazy. I think Im gonna have to talk to the service manager or even the owner about this. If they give me shit, im going to give them a shit review and call corporate headquarters.

I think my extended warranty is covering what they should and being fair, its BMW that is trying to rip them off, so now I have to deal with it.

According to my invoice the part cost about $60.00 and the labor was $60.00. I can't imagine it is that hard to replace. Because of the cost I just chose to have them fix it. Maybe someone with the N52 motor could shed some light about replacement.

Since you are in NJ, Wheel alignment in NYC cost $85.00 for our E60's. Check out http://www.106sttire.com/wheel_alignment.html
