Just realised that the steering wheel voice button does exactly the same as the one next to menu button. So why do they bother with both. The one on the wheel surely has to be the most accessible whilst driving!
Any one know why?

Months in 2 E60s and you never figured this stuff out? Passengers like the option to change CDs, select radio stations and tracks, adjust ventialtion, make phone calls, stop and start navigation, turn voice instructions on and off. Heck my kids lean forward from the back to push that button to select the CD and track they want to hear. I just do the driving.

The one in the middle is there so that my wife can push it and shout obscenities at the lady. She thinks it's hilarious.? ?

Also why do they put a volume control on the dash or indeed one to change CD tracks up and down too? ;-)

The button next to the CD slot is something I rarely use but a passenger might, I suppose.
