After much research, I am still undecided. I have an 06 525i with only 24K miles and the warranty/maintenance is about to expire. I bought the car a year ago with about 8K miles, so I put about 16K a year. I just took the car in for oil service and my breaks are still in good shape. The next scheduled maintenance according to iDrive is "Vehicle Check" in 6K miles and "break fuid flush" in about a year. However, I'm assuming that I might need to repalce the break pads at some point in the next two years (my iDrive says like 12K miles but that number seems to be increasing because I drive mostly highway)

I understand that extended maintenance is about $1600, do you think it is worth it? Any idea what the "Vehicle Check" and "Break flush" would cost? What about break pad replacement?

thanks!

Ah yes...
My CPO 07 wagon I JUST got has been in the Shop for 3 weeks now, all under warranty. It is basically getting a whole new electrical system aft of the front doors installed including the wiring harness...

Could you imagine the cost if it was not under warranty?

CPO and prepaid extended maintenance is very different and should not be confused. I find prepaid extended maintenance to be a total waste of $$. All you will get is maybe a couple of oil changes, cabin filter changes, and atmost brake rotors/pads.
Much better off saving the $$ and taking it to an indy or doing it yourself.
What if you total your car or sell it? Guess what, your $$ is lost. There will not refund you for prepaid maintenance, trust me.

All your work was performed under CPO warranty. It has nothing to do with prepaid maintenance. Prepaid maintenance is just that, paying up front for maintenance.

If you make more than 12K miles / year , extended maintenance is worth while a major service + break/disk combo for both axels will be more than 1600... besides they changes the wiper blades

I agree that the extended maintenance warranty is probably not worth it. I paid about $1300 US for it to cover from 50K to 100K and only needed wiper blades, 3 oil changes, a drive belt, a brake fluid flush and new front pads (but not rotors). Most of my driving is on the highway, so in-towners will likely have greater brake / rotor which may make the warranty seem a little less overpriced.

If you can get brakes and rotors done during the coverage period, it will be well worth it.

Thanks for the feedback! I've decided not to get the extended maintenance based on the points that were mentioned. The maintenance plan only seems to be worth it if I need new brakes/rotors during the next two years. Since I dont know if I will and I'm not sure if I will keep the car that long, I think I will just take my chances.

Thanks again!
