Extend Oil Change Interval? Low Miles Driven.

Surprised no one suggested an oil analysis from a source like Blackstone. They can test the additive remaining, so you can run a longer interval and see if the oil has broken down too far or not.

The additives will still be there and breakdown of a synthetic oil in the OP's situation is pretty minimal which I'm sure a UOA will show. The concern I'd have though is the moisture buildup. The reality is if it is cost prohibitive for someone to change their oil once a year then there are other problems. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed! I failed to mention that the analysis will also show if anything else is a problem in the motor, especially with other potential contaminants. I'd rather run an analysis for ~$20 rather than speculate how long it'll last.
