Well, pictures say more than words.
The rear tyre plain simply exploded during a motorway cruise @ about 65 Mph
The car remained stable and nothing else happened, even the rims have no damage.
In the last picture you see the other rear tyre showing a hole. That tyre didn't explode yet, but i guess it wouldn't be long before that happened there as well.
I did sent the pics to Goodyear but they haven't responded yet, which I think is rather inpolite.

WOW indeed and a little chance to start worring...i have on one of my goodyears nct a bulp, a potwhole deformation or whatever it was.
Be thankfull it didn't happen at higher speeds. At 200km/h would be a disaster if smth like that happens...or wouldn't it?! (cuz it's rf)

Scary! Any reasons why it happened?

Whilst Runflats are safer I don't think you can assume any 'failure' will guarantee a drama-free stop. I doubt you could continue your journey with the above damage too! That sort of damage and high speeds (even 65mph could be trouble) could cause a major incident...

Exact same thing happened to my Dunlop front tires with 545i sport rims. The inside tread had completely worn away while still plenty of tread left elsewhere. Dealer claimed that the rims had hit something and were bent. You couldn't tell just by looking at it. I would suspect the same thing happened to yours. Check to see if the rim is bent. I had to pay to have rims straightened or else the same thing would happen again with new tires.

There are so many pictures on this forum shows the tire exploded with side wall almost break apart from the surface of the tire. Is it becuase it's runflat??
I have seen a lot of flat tires in the tire shop, it usually looks different.

Just to play devil's advocate here. The areas of failure look really worn. How old were these treads? The alignment on your car looks off too.
