So DSC keeps every driving assistance on and DTC cuts down on the straigh line traction control allowing some wheel spin but still saves you in the corners.
Does anyone here switch to DTC? Also, does anyone here ever turn all assist off? (pushing DTC button for 4 seconds) Finally, when is the best time to use these different options? Answers to assume every day is warm and sunny. BMW E60 530D M Sport |
When I had my 645, 80% of the time I had dtc off, dsc off, sport mode on, and drive in steptronic... fun :) lol
Car feels different with the whole traction control system off. (Hold the button down for few seconds, appose to just pressing it) |
Shouldn't DTC be used in snowy/icy weather?
|
I enjoy DTC off while driving in DS mode. I'm in that mode 70-80% of the time.
|
Yes, use DTC to navigate real slick surfaces where traction control prevents forward progress or rocking the car the get un-stuck.
I use DTC mode on twisty roads where safe to explore the cars handling a bit. You definitely can use more power on corner exit but still maintain that margin of safety. I rarely ever have fully turned off DSC on a public road. On track, once comfortable in a session, I'll go full DSC off. |
I turn DTC off nearly every time behind the wheel. Of course to me, my 550i is only a few months old so every driving experience is an "ultimate driving experience"
But to correct your description, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) is fully assisted traction including DSC. Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) alone affects the vehicle's stability by detecting and minimizing skids. |
All off when approaching merge lanes after stoplights.
|
Only "play" with the DTC when at the track or autocross events, I don't temper with the default when driving on the public roadways.
|
No, I turn DSC off.
|
The only time I turn everything off is if I am doing a hole shot from a stop. One of our members in the NY area truns everything off in our twisties meets. He is a braver man than I.
