Hello people far more Knowledgeable than I.

I've heard you guys Stateside talking about 'Euro Reflectors' alot. And I can see them on all the European cars, therefore I assume they are a legal requirement here.

Mmmmm... as you can see my sport has none, and there is no space for them on the rear bumper. Could this be a BMW oversight or have I just made a big mistake even mentioning it?

comments gratefully received

The reflectors only come in the SE rear bumper, the Sport bumper is a different design and doesn't have any.

They took em out in the US verions because of some DOT regulations .
Now you just have painted inserts, www.bekkers.com has them for cheap - just pop em in.

I noticed that the latest 5-series accessories catalog (in the US) has the rear reflectors in it (page 5, $11.90 each, to be ordered separately left and right).

yeah, this is BMW NA at its best again- trying to nickel and dime us, its not the cost its just the point, they dont include them and make some bs up about DOT, but every E46 coupe since MY99 has them standard, wonder where the DOT rules are regarding that car

thats a good price, though, since I saw my dealer had them on a 530i and they are charging $69.99 for them as a dealer option installed
