I note that in my new LCI 530i, there is no engine temprature guage. I had it in my previous BMW and it was very helpful to know when the engine has reached the optimum temprature and I can rev it in the the highs. It was also useful in the winter to know you can now switch the heater and get warm air from the vents.

Is there some other way through the iDrive system to dispaly the engine temprature?

Regards,

My 2004 530i, does not start ventilation in winter, until it will be warm... I don't have to care about this.

We all miss the temperature gauge. Supposedly, the car will warn you if things start getting too warm. The HVAC will turn on the heat automagically when the car is warm enough. You can also watch the "rotating dial" that makes up the white bar before redline on your tachometer. When the engine is cold, you will have more bars before redline. As the engine warms, you will end up with three bars (I think). That's how I know I can start using the throttle a bit more aggressively.

Hi,

This feature is not included in LCI models any more.

Apologies for my ignorance, what is HVAC? Does this mean I simply switch on the heating and the fan will switch on when the engine warms up?

HVAC = Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning

The E60 never did have it.

The E39 had.

We all know what he means by temperature gauge!

It's just that on LCIs, the pre-LCI functionality seems to have been designed out.

ABC, I am confused now. What pre-LCI functionality has been designed out in the LCI E60? Do you mean there was a temprature gauge like feature in the E60 not no longer there in the LCI?
