Hello fellow 5 series owners! Thanks for all the wonderful information over the years, I've read and learned for hours and hours on this forum, but it's time for me to post a question of my own.
I've had some electrical issues over the past several years, one of which caused my car to not start. Battery was new. I would turn the key, all lights would come on, then nothing. No clicks, nothing. Took it to the stealership and they said I needed a new starter. Thought, well that sucks, and after 16 hours on the garage floor...it started right up, until the next morning. Issue was still persistent, but seemed to happen more when the weather was hotter. Took it back and they finally came back with the Integrated Supply Module. I replaced that with 30 minutes of time in the garage, and haven't had an issue since for the starting. With both visits I also had them check the below issue, but it never repeated itself for the tech (go figure).
Now with that being said, my next electrical grimlin started around the same time frame, so I've been dealing with this for a couple years, and I figured I would come to you guys first before the stealership (their diag cost is cheaper than my local indie). The issue is happening more and more often, to where now it's almost a guarantee to occur within 30 minutes of driving.
After 30 minutes of driving an error code pops up that states "Engine Speed! Select Higher Gear". I've researched as much as I could find, and found out it's a Control unit LDM (Longitudinal Dynamics Management) error 276 (checkcontrol bmw - Documents and scroll down to #186 for the image). Shortly after this error shows up, I receive a "Engine Running Hot" error. I would normally panic and pull over, but after going into the hidden menu to check oil temp and realizing it is within normal range (101-106) the first 30 times, now I just keep driving. If I keep driving for long enough, or romp on her a little, I'll get a "Engine Over Heat" error that says to pull over and stop my car (again I would normally panic, but not any more), and while this happens, the temperature gauge (the little spring looking thing that goes half way around your tachometer when the car is first started in the morning) springs all the way showing that my car is cold. This tells me it's some sort of control unit or sensor sending faulty information.
I've replaced the following so far:
Thermostat
Lower Radiator Temp Sensor
Engine Coolant Temp Sensor
Any help here would be awesome, it's been a random event until now which is almost a given after 30 minutes of driving, so hopefully if nothing transcribes here, at least the stealership can most likely diagnose.
Thanks 5 series!

Search youtube for "E60 5 Series, how to access hidden menu". To display the oil temp, go to #7. So 19, enter your added VIN number, then go to #7.
