For all those DIY fans like me... Where do you guys buy your oil and how much do you pay for it? Also what oil do you use, other than BMW? I was going to buy the castrol syntec at walmart, but realized its not the same as BMW... Anyway, where can I buy oil preferrably locally (in the US) or online (other than the stealer of course)? Thanks...

It might help to know where you are located, whether in the US or another country, but I use Castrol full synthetic when I change my oil on my Audi and BMW...you're probbaly gonna spend about $3 or so in the US per quart, plus throw in another $15-20 for the filter

Hm, I did say US, don't read so fast ! I heard that Castrol fully syntetic is not as good as BMW Castrol... Unless it says made in Germany like someone said...

Sorry my bad, I just looked at your profile info and there was no location.....anyway I havent heard anything to the back up the claim about whether the Castrol was refined in Germany or the US if it made difference or not. Honestly oil is oil brand to brand, Castrol just paid a licensing fee to BMW, plus I am sure they donate oil to BMW when testing their engines...so honestly stick to a brand your loyal to and be happy.

Main thing is you want full synthetic and use the proper viscosity for the season and the BMW recomendations.

just go to walmart and get the 5 quarts... its alot cheaper... i usually just buy 2 5 quarts and just use it on the next oil change... they sell mobil 1 and castrol... all full synthetic.. bmw uses castrol oil anyway... i think oil is just oil..
