I want to change the engine oil more than the iDrive suggests.

So I was thinking to change the oil + filter but not to reset the oil service on the iDrive.

Which oil should I order?

http://www.mapodo.de/product_info.php/products_id/439

This one?

For central Europe - I don't know if the climate is linked with the oil

Edit: my lst oil service receipt says 'CASTROL SLX', but... Which SLX (that is the same of EDGE, from what I heard)?
5w30 can be okay?

Thanks!

10W60 (Racing oil or M oil) for Spirited Drivers.
5w30 for Comfort drivers.

the racing oil is expensive.

I use 10W60 (Lubro Moly, and it is 100% german oil)

10W60:
"
This fully synthetic high-end motor oil was especially developed

to keep oil consumption at a low level ? turbo tested
to maintain the maximum power, also for tuned engines under racing conditionswhen it?s important to supply the necessary power reserves
to protect stressed motor components from fuming off
to build up a maximum oil pressure also at highest oil temperatures.
"

By the way that is another secret that BMW don't want the non-M cars know... it is only for M cars... that is why these cars rev high rpms, If the non M cars specially V8 engines can be tunned to over 7000rpm if the 10W60 is used. I was told by an professional BMW specialist and he recommend me that oil.
but these 10W60 will cut a bit the gas mileage. (not much).

your choice...

Yes, big difference than 5W30 on torque and very good for summers. Try it!

So this?

Didn't know the oil can vary the torque.

Are we sure wouldn't I go to damage the engine with this oil?

10W60 won't damage the BMW specially on V8 engines. I have that oil for months and no any minimal issue. Well, if you need to make sure, ask any european racing shops or BMW performance specialist and they will explain you about racing oil. The dealers will tell you not to use that same as the charcoal filter or flush the transmission fluid per example.

It is up to you... stick on 5W30 if you want to follow to BMW recommends or better gas mileage or
try 10w60 if you are spirited driver or drive hard, do high revs and the oil keeps cooler and much less frictions.

that is why that 10W60 is only for "M" cars....

(As not skilled user) if it would have less frictions, why the consumption increases? (Did you notice it? If yes, how many %?)

not much.... let's say about 30-50 km less per tank... if you drive the car hard.
