I've seen a number of people on another site with rear main seal leaks. But that requires dropping the gearbox.

Differential seals? New/aftermarket inlets/outlets and waterpump & thermostat while the subframe is down?

Trans service?
downstream O2 sensors.

Also I am choosing not to do the engine mounts.. they look good. I hope they stay that way through this.

diff seals is a good idea. i'll do inlets/outlets with i upgrade turbos, hopefully late next year. i was thinking about the water pump and t-stat. it just adds a good chunk of money right now, that i don't really have.

i was also thinking about a trans service. it could drain for a few days while everything else is apart. o2 sensors are fine for now. when i do catless down pipes, i will replace the sensors then.

thanks for all the replies. i will post up my progress in a few weeks.

If you are planing on doing down pipes, I would do them with the subframe down as there is a LOT more room to maneuver. Additionally you could do silicone inlets or relocated inlets and also outlets (while you're in there).

If you can, please take pictures or even videos, along with a write of what is involved. Good luck.

i'm going to put this off for a little bit. i have too much going on right now, so it will be a month or so before i get into this.
at that point i may just look for a donor car to use for the RWD conversion.

Didn't realize you posted this update. Fair game. Hopefully it works out smoothly.

Sorry Zoom, couldn't get great pictures for you as I was too dedicated on racing against time.

If you have specific areas you would like a picture, let me know. I have the sub frame down still, with down pipes off.

Nothing specific. Just wanted to know what is required to drop the subframe.

How long did it take to lower the subframe? Did you leave the steering rack on, or did you remove before lowering it? Any tricky problems to be aware of, like a line or hose that needs to be disconnected that is not obvious, etc.?

My main interest is in the steering rack, because I think it is leaking (at the u-joint) and so needs to be replaced. Thinking about tackling this job in my garage, and so am trying to get as much information as possible. Even if I farm this out to an Indy, would be helpful to know the steps involved. Would also replace other things while there is access, such as oil pan gasket and water pump/thermostat.

Good luck on your repair.
