:help: Hey guys, my 05 545i has recently been displaying a message that said "engine malfunction reduce speads and drive moderately" Along with the light the engine starts to get really shakey along with loss of power and wierd poping sounds.... yesterday i took it to the shop and my mechanic, who is very experienced with my car , but not the bmw software, has not been able to diagnose the problem... has anyone else experienced the same?

Hi

I had this error about 9 months ago, i called BMW service and they sent somebody out to me straight away. In my case it was a bad connection linking a pipe to the engine, he re-sealed it and was fine.

Of course it could be a totally different problem in your case :-(

Hope you get it sorted.

Ben

Important to note if it's an "emissions-related component" the factory warranty coverage in the United States is longer [months and miles] than the 4 yrs/50K miles.

Read your warranty book for details and the parts that are covered.
