Hello all 5 series members. Yesterday my 545i gave me two check engines an imcreased emmisions and an engine malfunction increased engine loads may cause damage to catalyc converters.i may have got mixed up a few words.
At start up the car feels weak and dosent sound like a v8 more like a subaru the car itself feels weak but the strange thing is that the two days before i drove the car it was fine?
Any thoughts or ideas any help is greatly appreciated.
Im currently looking to buy a code scanner becuase the auto parts dont read them.
I have read that on another person it was a coil pack that was out.how can i tell forsure

Change out the spark plugs, then see how it goes from there. If the engine still feels like it's misfiring, you can try to unplug each ignition coil at at time. Let's say you unplug coil #1, if the misfire gets worst, you know that coil is working. If you unplug it, and you don't feel any change, there's your problem! It'll be even more helpful if you can get the codes read.

Is it misfiring only at start up? Does it run smooth after its warmed up? Is so, it could be a voltage issue. Check battery voltage. These cars are very sensitive to voltage.
