I have the exact same problem, the car hiccups every 3 to 4 seconds especially when it's in 5th gear and cruising. Thought it was the transmission but now I am thinking it's Engine. So I am taking it to BMW for software code upgrade, maybe I will have them look at the Engine as well.

So kneemah, did you get the problem resolved? and how much did it end up costing you, if you don't mind me asking?
