Performance gains?? If that seems likely to you then perhaps removing your floor mats would be a more effective performance Mod!!

Dang, I was wondering when someone was going to figure out my secret.

Also I realized last year when driving home from my daughters birthday party at Chucky Cheese's Pizza with two helium baloons in the back seat that my overall accelleration was greatly increased. The lighter than air performance was astounding. However you need to make sure that the baloons dont migrate up to the front part of the cabin as the front to rear weight ratio of the car is thrown off and steering becomes a bit loose.

I was actually thinking of having my entire cabin filled with helium and then wearing a personal breathing apparatus while driving to allow me to breathe. Anyone else tried this?

Good one....

Seriously though leave it on, unless you want to annoy your neighbors everytime you start the car. BMW's sound best being subtle at low speeds, ever better when flat out. I recon the noise flat out would be dreadful and too loud, you'll be digging it back out your garage to put it back in no time.

It's their more for sound deadening than heat protection, I tried to take it off but the screws were really hard to remove so I left it on, but now I am thinking off getting a vorsteiner hood, so for now I'll just leave it on.

Has anyone taken the engine cover off? What's its purpose?
Don't remove it! It's what gives our BMWs the near 50:50 weight distribution
