My Ride: 2006 Black Saphire Metallic 550i, tan leather, nav, heads up, comfort seats, front heated seats, premium sound, logic 7, comfort access.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me why a ticking noise from the engine starts every time i park my car.
Is this common with all BMW's or just V8 engines.
Is it normal???????????????
Getting a bit worried
Thanks for your replies.

I got mine, too. It's very noticable when parking at drivethru window. I can clearly hear knocking sound.
I don't think it's normal, but I don't think dealer has solution for that yet.

When you drive the car and it heats up, once you stop and park, the metal in the exhaust pipe/manifold, catalytic converter all contract as they're cooling down which in turn sounds like sporadic ticking noises.
You'll notice that if you push the car hard and it gets really hot, you'll hear even more ticking.
Not sure if that's what you're referring to?
