A friend of mine is looking for a used 535D Sport and spotted this car on ebay, i personally do not think that it is a 535D. For instance there is no advanced air con, take a look and see what you think ?

This is a repaired 'write off'.
An owner does not have the right to a 'new car' within a year of new, it is a matter for the insurance company to decide if it is 'economically repairable'.
If not they will replace with a new car and sell the damaged car, repairers buy them and repairt hem. Some will be almost as good as new, but standard of work can vary.
Personally I would not touch it. Especially with the seller being economical with the truth about it's previous damage. he suggests it was not significant, but for an insurer to not repair it, the damage would need to cost about 50% of the new price to fix.
So ?20,000 of damage has been fixed.

My Ride: 525d se auto. black sapphire, 17" 5 spoke 138 style alloys. dark poplar trim, charcoal flat weave cloth, bluetooth phone prep, dimming rear view and side mirrors, lumbar support, heated front deats, phone cradle
Correct me if im wrong, but didn't the 535D come out on a 05 plate? Don't touch it, You can almost gaurentee something hasn't been repaired right.

I have never seen a 2004 535d. Here in Sweden it was a new model from 2005.
I would also let this pass. The E60 have to be repaired by an autorized BMW repair man becouse it's alu in the front mixed with steel. If it's made wrong, the front will corride away by it self. You can find a note about this under your hood.

Could also be a pre-production sample that are almost impossible to get insurence on or repair. In that case it could be a -04 with the standard ACC.

Looks dodgy to me too... Even for ?20k!
But just for a laugh I've 'asked the seller a question' - of just why standard aircon is pictured... If I get a response I'll post it...
