I have an xi and run UHP all-season General Exclaims [ 245/40x18 ] in the winter months. They work very well in the limited snow we've experienced in Southern NJ. However, last winter when we had 12"+ of snow I pulled out of my driveway w/out slippin and sliding ...

The UHP Summer Bridgestone RFTs on stock 18s were put away about 3 weeks ago.

Just took my brand new Michelin Alpin's thru a week's worth of snow in Washington State. Tried multiple times to slip and slide while crossing the North Cascades mountain pass (twice!), but couldn't...not even once...of course xDrive didn't help.

Winter has arrived in Ottawa. The Dunlop winter sports are going on my baby tomorrow! Interesting factoid,in the Province of Quebec, across the river from me, snow tires are mandatory for ALL cars after December 1st!

I'm rolling on Conti DWS tires - UHP A/S + X-drive should equal unbeatable winter performance. Previous two winters I managed with the OEM summer RFT RE050's - only one incident and even that was more attributable to my miscalculation of the surface I was on than a tire issue. What can I say - Xi FTW

Blizzak ws-70 just put on.. feels quite different as expected but I am sure it will pay-off as soon as the snow starts piling up.
