In addition to our Car Reliability Survey, TrueDelta also conducts a real-world fuel economy survey. Unlike other such surveys, this one includes driving style and driving conditions--which can make a huge difference.

Until recently we only had US powertrains in the database. But we had requests to add UK powertrains, so I recently spent a few days adding them for all recent model year BMWs (also, Audis, Mercedes, etc.). Made me really wish we had more of these in the US.

Now that the powertrains are in there, hopefully we'll start to see some diesel owners responding.

The UK MPG is different to the US one maybe you need to let people know what to convert theirs to if they are from the UK, unless you mark them UK mpg.

Thanks for checking on this. Car do go farther on a gallon in the UK--but that's because the gallons are larger

The program actually performs a three-way conversion.

People in the US report in MPG and see MPG.

People in the UK report miles per Imperial gallon, and see the same.

Pretty much everyone else reports liters / 100 km, and see metric.

Default is US, but sign up and log in and units are local.

Which model year?

Note that we're using BHP/SAE figures which are a bit lower than PS/DIN. So the 235-horsepower diesel is shown as 232 for those model years where I've entered it already.

We use whichever standard a manufacturer uses in the U.S., to avoid listing the same engine twice. In the future I'll probably convert this to local units as well, including metric where appropriate, though all three systems appear to be used in the UK.

2008 model year(when LCI was introduced) the power increased from 231bhp to 235bhp for the 530d. Also the pre 2008 535d was 276bhp and the LCI went up to 286bhp.

Seeing your car in your sig now. Don't know how I missed it earlier.

Sounds like I've got more work to do. The figures you're stating are PS/DIN. But then I'm showing the 232 SAE (235 DIN) 3.0d for the 2007. Sounds like I need to change those specs.

I don't currently have the 535d for the 2007. Will have to add that. When I do I'll also add UK powertrains back to 2004. Only back to 2007 currently.

I've had a hard time finding good sources for UK stats for years before the current one.
