hello, I wanted to ask what e60 model and year is worth it to buy now with an automatic transmission, good horsepower and is reliable for daily use.

and later to mod it for more power.

The E60 has aged to the point where it is now 14+ years old. As with any car, reliability depends greatly on how well it was maintained by previous owners. The N52 engine in the 528 and 530 is considered to be a very reliable workhorse but is not especially modable. If you want more power from your E60, look at the 535, 540 or 550 from the get-go would be my suggestion.

do you say that as the n52 is not that big of a engine so modding it for maybe like 50+ hp would be tuff correct?

Correct. Your gains would not be that substantial for the money you'd have to spend.

thank you for your knowledge and may i ask what years of the 525i and 528i would be best and is the n53 reliable as its predecessor the n52?
