I have still problems to estimate width of e60. Specially on narrow road it's difficult so say when wheels/side of the car is too close bushes, wall, curb, edge of the asphalt, etc. When I feel already terrified there is stil 15-25 cm to the curb. Maybe it's the round waste line what prvent me to see tyres from mirrors?

No scratches... yet.

i dont know the exact dimenstions of the e60, but i had the same problem before it got fixed by raising the seat a little, which gave me an idea about the dimensions of the car. hope this helps

I used to have problems with this the first few months of having the car.. The feeling of not being in total control of the outer limits of the car was especially reinforced this summer when parking in a very tight parking house in Vence. After parking there 3-4 times, I became more comfortable with the car.

After some time you get really comfortable with the car.. especially if you learn to trust your mirrors (tilt-down function is helpful if you have it) and the PDC. The ability to fold in the mirrors may also be helpful.. I had to use it recently in order to allow for an aggressive truck to pass me in a narrow street.

The tilt down mirror doesn't help me much, because of the way I adjust my side mirrors.

The common recommendation for side mirrors is to adjust them so that you barely see the side of your car in them.

Personally, I adjust my side mirrors so that objects in the rearview mirror move seamlessly into the side views as they leave the rearview. (its like having one big mirror.... with no blind spots.) But this means when the side mirror tilts down, you can't see your wheels.

That's how mine is adjusted and I can see perfectly when it tilts down.

Me too. I'm really not looking for the wheels, I'm looking for curbs. I know where the wheels are...
