i have a lowly e60 525i 2006. Should i mod the car or trade it in for the MB CLS. i really like the CLS but I think the E60 looks hot too.
If i keep the e60, wheels will be the next thing within a month. All funds and approval/selection process is completed.

let me hear some opinion pls.

Have you seen the new Jaguar XF?
Stunning package - tons of presence, great torquey engines, lovey 20" rims, very refined interiors.

Sums it up well. I drove an E500 and was offended by the drive - it was like driving an old Buick, blah not for me. You'd seriously have to hate driving with a passion to own one. The AMG's are a different story I'm sure.

Why not get a 545/550 instead?

Anyone read clarksons opinion on the new E (non-AMG) - pretty hilarious:

cls can look good when done up, esp the rear end, but no chance
for even a CLS350 to race a 3litre e60 or 525 with sb,
E60 with V8 will smoke those yahoos

I may buy a MB CLS one day, but not until i have given up on life and become incontinent. I am sure it'll look nice outside the care home i end up in.

I stalk these posts all the time and don't really post too much (well, much at all) but the two cars I finally settled on test-driving (I looked at about 6) were my current '07 550i and an '06 CLS55. I obviously chose the 550 over the 55 for a few reasons: 1) I'm 6'2" and every time I got in/out of the CLS, I had to duck my back shoulder down or I crushed it on the dramatically sloping roofline; 2) the CLS felt very claustrophobic; 3) while dramatic and not bad looking at all, the styling ended up being too feminine for me, not that it's a 'girl' car if there is such a thing, but my wife envisioned a 20-somthing buxom blond driving the car, not a 38 YO balding red-head dude (me) --the 550 was more classy/executive and I'll admit, it's a status symbol to a certain degree; 4) I couldn't get past the 9 mpg in the 55 (~12 in the standard CLS is not much better); 5) my 550 can roast the back tires pretty good and leave just about everything behind, so that's good for me; and 6) as far as I'm concerned, the handling in my 550 is arguably superior to the 55's. That's not to say the CLS55 didn't have positives: the Napa Leather seats were amazingly comfortable (more so than my 550) along with the Alcantara headliner and the acceleration is almost beyond compare (M5 is out of my price range, so I can't compare) and made my 8 year-old son (and me) smile from ear to ear , these are just a few considerations and some of the things I found influenced my decision, so I hope they help at least a little. I'm sure a lot of people will tell you the same, it all comes down to what you can afford and your personal taste because they're both great cars marketed to similar demographics.
