I had requested that the tech remove the phone cradle to make the storage bin larger, but he said that wires would protrude from the parts remaining.? They could not duplicate the acceleration lag or the cd reseting to track 1.? This work took 3 days.?? Toyota Camry loaner.??

Thanks to this forum, it seems that I know more about the car than the service advisor!

I went for the emission recall and acceleration lag. When I got the car back, they fixed the acceleration lag but now I have a vibration at 1500 rpm. When I complained about the vibration, the tech claimed they could not replicate it. So I insisted that someone ride in the car with me. The shop foreman came with me and could feel it. It was as if the shifting points (automatic) were too high. He called BMW and they said they were aware of the issue and it would be fixed in software ver 15.2 out it Jan. I would suggest that you wait til this software is available before you re-address this issue.

What software version did you get upgraded to? (that fixed the emissions and acceleration lag but now has vibration)

Not true, there is one for 530s as well cause I got one some weeks ago. Don't know about 525s. I haven't taken it in yet.

I wonder if the vibration was fixed in 13.3? It would be really nice to see a "fixed list"... Anyone? Anyone?

Thanks for the info folks. I guess I'll have to take it in for the update and leave it with the dealer for however long it takes. I still can't understand why software upgrades take so long. By the way, my E60 is a 530i.

I just dropped off my car for this recall and was told at least two days. The service guys said there were actually two software recalls/update showing up on his screen for my car. I asked if both were for the emissions recall and he said yes. Who knows, frankly I'm sure I believe him on that one. Anyway I asked if it meant a complete upgrade to a new version and was told yes, that I'll lose all my radio presets, etc. Not a problem since I never had done any presets, always listen to CD's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about this software upgrade as I really had no problems before and I even had RDS using ver 11.x that came w/ my Jan 04 build. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... I'll find out what version I get this go around.

Does the emissions software recall include the new software needed for Bluetooth on the early 04 E60s?

I would think so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the issue for early builds is hardware and software. Cars before Mar 04 had a different computer module which is the issue. My car is a Jan 04 build so I never asked, assuming that I couldn't get the BT working. For me it is simply not an issue, so I have never pursued it, but I'll ask.
