Just wondering how well (or poorly) the e60 tires do in the snow.
Do you have to get snow tires or do you guys simply put a sandbag or something heavy in the trunk?

Thanks,
-The Pentium Guy

Don't know about e60 all-seasons but my buddy here in Michigan has never used snow tires on his 2001 e39 (non-sport).

I wouldn't drive in winter in NY w/o snow tires. I just put 4 Blizzak WS-50's on my 545. They ride ok and look great.

Did you have to change out the wheels too, or did those Blizzak's fit the your wheels?

My dealer wants $2,000 for tires, wheels and labor. Ugh.

Hey PG, I'm going to try and see if the All-Season's will work in a Cleveland winter.
I did put a 80 lb. sand bag in the trunk, which fits nicely with a bungy cord holding it in place using the two hold down clamps.

I have two sets of blizzaks I 'm storing now, but both are the wrong size, used them on other 3 series I owned. If I can make it threw the winter I plan on getting some nice summer Wheels/Tires maybe Alpina, then next year mount snows on my stock 17 " wheels.

Four good snow tires on a BMW is a great set-up , but this year I just have too many set's of wheels in my garage and no room for another set to store. If it gets too bad I have a 2002 Passat with Blizzaks to drive , and will keep the 545 in the garage.

My BMW replicas rims 17" design 124 with Continental wintercontacts perform and
look well. I definately feel more safe and confident in the wet and snow.
