Default E60 starting characteristics change

I have had my 535d for over a year. About 5 occasions and most recently today I notice a slight change in how the car starts. Normally the brake pedal is soft when you press your foot on it to start the car and A flick of the push button start she fires into life.

Now today and randomly it seems on these other occasions the brake pedal is rock hard and I have to hold the push start for half a second then car starts fine. There is no problem with the start itself. It does not seem to be a cold starting trait as this morning when I drove the car first she started normally. Drove 12 miles and stopped for fuel and then started with the hard brake pedal and slight delay. Same again next start and then back to normal most recently.

Does anyone else with an auto e60 experiences this? I don't think there is a problem but I do notice the change in characteristic now and again with the starting procedure. I drove an auto 3 series about 4 months ago and on starting it the brake pedal was rock hard too so don't think it's limited to the 5 series.

have had the same "problem" on occasion --- no issues with cold start and don't recall when it happened last --- maybe air temp. related??? --- dunno.

Same "issue" here (2007 530i with automatic). I say "issue" because I really don't think it is an issue. I have not been able to find the pattern for this behavior although it does seem to happen more frequently if the car hasn't been driven for a few days. I wouldn't worry about it.
