E60 start problem / rough idling
Hi all,
As some of you may have seen my earlier posts , I am having a nightmare with my e60 and the problems are as follow: 1.Rough idle on cold and warm and the car shakes as if there is an earth quake 2. doesn't start up, it cranks over but no start and shows three errors which are transmission fault, fuel pump fault and dsc fault 3. yesterday not only it did not start it stopped cranking over while the battery was ok and it did start after 10 mins or so so far 1. I have changed the DDE relay ( blue relay in ecu box) . 2. I have used wd40 on all relay pins and female connectors plus the ecu wiring ( took it off , sprayed it on it and waited from around 1 hour before plugging it back in). 3.changed the boot relay ( black one ) not sure what it is called. 4.changed battery from 90 ah to 110ah . now I am short of ideas as the problem is getting worse yet I am nowhere. Here is what I have found from hours of online search : 1. Could be dde relay (sky blue) as if that is not working no signal is sent to gearbox and fuel pump. 2. could be the glow plug . My glow plug number 5 is gone and was gone from Sept 2013 . didn't have any issues with it until last 2-3 month . I have read people saying the glow plug could be taking too much power or current hence throwing all kind of errors as the volt is dropping below x volt . Can glow plug play a role in idling a car? 3. could be the fuel relay rail wiring . I have checked it and all looks good. it was suggested that the wiring if loose can cut fuel supply and cause rough idle etc . I have taken the cable out and can see the car suddenly shakes but then all goes back to normal and start to work again 4.could be battery or alternator . battery change , alternator not sure if I should do it . 5.could be ibs sensor . I have no clue where it is and what it is . 6.could be fuel filter if clogged. I have just changed it less than 1k ago when the car still had the issue and still has it . 7. could be egs blocked, could it be ? and the list goes on . I don't want to spend few £ ks with stealer to fix thus I am doing all i can to fix it . what I am doing next : 1. take the manifold apart and clean it 2. take the ecg out and clean it . 3. change number 5 glow plug. I would start at the battery. Did you program and register the new battery correctly. If so put it on a trickle charger on it. Next I would check the alternator. I see a message about charging. Did you have any of these messages before the issue. Once I check the power I would clear the codes to see what I am actually looking for. Clear the codes and see what comes back. Then troubleshoot from there. Right now it seems you have a power issue and when you have that it could give you false codes due a power shortage

Many thanks for reply Yes issues were there prior to battery change and hence why i changed a perfectly fine battery It is110ah and an upgrade of 20ah compared to the old battery All registered and changed in dis |
Disconnect the IBS and see if it resolves your issue. Go to the battery and there should be a plug plugged into the negative battery terminal. If your car doesnt work as normal then your IBS is not the issue

Had a look but not seeing anything plugable to negatice lead , are you sure that is where itnis ? How big is it , does it have any puctures etc

You might have to jump the car to get it going. You have a lot of error messages which is pointing to a power failure

one of the earlier posts said to jump start and I said the car does switch on and fault is intermittent .
the fault is not preventing the car from switching on always and only does it sometimes. when it happens the issues are 1. no crank at all but battery fully charged 2.crank but no start |
