Hi all
Having some problems with my 2004 530d. For the last 6weeks now, I have been getting errors of all sorts. I first got faults for transmission failure and runflat indicator. Turning car off and restarting cleared these up. then I started getting "check Battery Terminals". I have also seens Charging Fault, ABS inactive, etc Mostly get them after the car has been stood for a few hours. I have replaced the battery thinking this was the problem, but still have the issues. I have check battery voltage and I get 12.4v in the morning after leaving it for 11hours, 14.38v when started and battery charging. Ive had the battery and alternator checked at a local place that I use and they were deemed to be working fine. This is really doing my head in now, and want to sort this out onceand for all I hope someone will be able to help Thanks |
Sorry to hear.
I still (strongly) think it's battery related. A faulty IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor) has been a problem in a bunch of cars. I'm not sure if there's been a recall for it. Anyway, try changing the IBS at the dealer. I hope you get it sorted out! - Antti - |

Definetly sounds like the battery, if not then the Alternator.

before getting the IBS, did you install ANY aftermarket equipment on the car? Any aftermarket relays? Anywhere that has been regrounded differently? If any of the above occurs, tell me what happened. The E60 has too many sensors and modules and one tiny thing can cause that.

Nothing has been added to the car, all standard |

Was the new / replacement battery "registered" when you installed it? The newest BMWs , when possessed by the electrical gremlins, can be a diagnostician's worst nightmare.
if nothing aftermarket, thats the only thing I can think of. |
