Couldn't agree more. I loved my M45 to the last day. I was very torn over the M and Q when I bought her. The motor is still fantastic in those cars. So smooth and they feel light and ready to rev. Titanium valves and all! A few people still thought mine was a new model recently.
In terms of the winter beater part, you might want to look at another car. I had my M in Cleveland for most of its life, and a hole rusted though the exhaust manifold and precat section, and the entire rest of the exhaust, every part was complete rust. They don't hold up to it so well.....
