Hi, Does anyone know of a way of adjusting the sensitivity of the parking sensors? They start beeping quite a long way away from items. In a very tight parking space it would be helpful to have the sensors come on when you really need them to ie: when about say 30 cms away. I wondered if there is a setting in the idrive which would allow this?

I wouldn't like to say that it can't be done, but I will say that it can't be done easily!!
You'll have to live with it - listen for continuous tone and/or look at the iDrive screen as you manoevre the car.
The Golden Rule is, if you hear a continuous tone, then STOP as you'll be getting very close to something.
We should consider ourselves lucky that the front sensors sound beeps at the front of the car, and te rear ones at the back. It is most disconcerting to drive another make of car with Front & Rear sensors that, although the tones are slightly different, they come from a common sounder, so you have to seriously think about things when manoevring.
Did I really say that?? What happened to good old Mark One Eyeballs?
Don't we get lazy

do you really mean that??? the last thing you want to do is scratch your bumpers because they did not give you enough time to stop!!!

Mine becomes a solid beep at around 20cm from the object anyway. I guess it's to allow for pesky tow bars of cars.

I totally agree, the constant bleeping when feet away from objects gets quite annoying and distracting. It would be far better if they only started activating at around 30 cms and give a solid sound at around 3" (like my old 330i). So if anyone knows how to adjust the settings I would be very grateful for the info.

Yes I find the setting of constant beep at 30 cms pretty useless. Prior to getting this I thought that I would be able to get closer before the system told me to stop. Parking in a city means you need to have greater sensitivity than this. Right now I have to see at what point the constant beep starts and then inch forward the 10 inches that I have before I am 2 inches away. The system should allow a sensitivity adjustment. BMW are you listening?
It would be nice to be able to adjust in iDrive though! (If you're driving 100% square at a flat wall for example)

Got, ACS Roof Spoiler, but not installed..
i think the system is pretty much effective leaving enough space that if your speeding in reverse you still hear the beep and brake in time..
are you sure you want to be 2 inches parked behind an old lady in an SUV, you should keep more space for your car...
most people on the forum look for the biggest car spaces, or just park the car away from other cars...
