Good day gentlemen....and ladie's if you're out there. Just an update on my situation above.I eventually replaced the water pump and bam! problem solved. .........and as a precaution after reading your comments and given the mileage of the vehicle I also replaced the radiator hoses, water temp sensor and had to replace the radiator because it had a tiny whole and was leaking water. Just so you know, the aftermarker radiator BEHR is exactly the same radiator that BMW supplies and it is half the cost, so if youre in the market for a radiator replacement go for that.
So loving my beemer all over again now, fantastic car :-)

My Ride: 2006 530i Sport - Stock
Ditto on replacing the water pump. My issue was the same as the OP and my indy mechanic said the electric water pump had an intermittent issue and would eventually fail. He replaced it for me ... several hundred US$ ... and never had the issue again. My car is 2006 530i, and I replaced it at around 104k miles.
