Please only respond to this thread if you have been succesfully been able to retrofit factory navigation to you e60 for less than 2k.
I spend about 2 hours reading last night of all the threads and got no conclusive answer. I know it's doable if your car is navi. wired CCC PDF mambo jambo.

But i want to know anyone that has gotten it done for 1800$ or so & is on this board.

Thanks again.

funny you should write this now, I just got out of my car after plugging in all the pieces to do a test. The donor CCC came out of a 645 which didn't have bluetooth or sirius, which means I need to get it re-coded. Otherwise I would have just left everything in. It fired right up when I turned the key. I have an 05 without the pre-wiring.

a few notes:
you will need at least one cable that is not available in the us. one for the second microphone and I haven't determined if I need the GPS cable or not. I didn't have a nav dvd to test the mapping so I could confirm my theory that the GPS coordinates are broadcast over the car's comms bus like they were in the E39, thus not needing that retrofit antenna cable. The retrofit instructions were written for a car without BMW assist. the cables were $80, but $40 of that is a GPS antenna cable I don't think I'm going to need.

I got the euro-only cables from a friend in the UK, you might be able to find someone on the baord that will buy them and ship them out to you.

you will need the high i-drive controller and I assure you this will be the BIGGEST PITA of the whole thing. That center console, even though it only takes 4 screws, is a monster to get out. the high controller will work with the M-ASK, so I went ahead and left the new one in so I wouldn't ever have to take that bloody console out again.

total so far: CCC $400 (ebay), monitor $770 (ebay), i-drive controller and all the other bits & pieces (new from Gary) $750. I'm still going to need a couple of hours worth of coding work at the dealer which I imagine will run $200-$300.

now that I notice you don't have an E60 yet, honestly, just find one with it. I couldn't find a stick 545 in south florida with the logic 7, nav and low miles, so I didn't have much choice. Besides, I couldn't turn down an 05 with 10k miles!

lol. i tried, but if i find one with navigation, it doesn't have prologic or the 20 way adjustable seats, sunshades, color combo etc.
i found a car that has all option available minus the naviagation. Mileage is good and has CPO. I would like retrofit the navigation, if not I will get aftermarket. At 2k or less, i would retro, at 2k plus - I would pass.

get the car you want for driving fun. forget about the nav. Get an up-to-date aftermarket one for the trips you need/want it for and mount it in a pretty way, spend some money on that rather than getting the factory outdated stuff BMW sells.

BMW's are about driving hardware, not for electronic user interaction.

thanks. the car is for fun driving. The navigation is history.
Getting one from Garmin Nuvi.

To clear up some confusion. Not all car can be retro fitted with the navigation within reasonable price.
Of course if u spend 20k you can get navi retro in any car.

The early 04s some had navigation prewired since the navi was not available at that time & for people if they wanted to add it later. BMWNA didn't want to lose them to other brands, so they left a backdoor to add them later and still sell the car to potential people. So only those 04s are available for retrofit, not all 05s, not 06, or 07s or 08s.
I got confused as someone answered one of my thead saying it can be retrofitted without giving me the complete pix.

no worries. without navi here i come.
