E60 M54 530i Muffler Delete
I'm looking for a cheap sound mod, for this old car. Does anybody have any videos or sound clips of this setup? I'm thinking of taking off the muffler, but leaving the stock cats and resonator intact.
I was told that if I keep my cats and resonator in, then I should be able to pass emissions and avoid any droning. I'm not expecting any performance gains -- I've read about some loss in low-end torque due to less back pressure. Not supposed to be really noticeable though. I don't think this has much of an impact on fuel economy either.
Thanks in advance.

I recently had the chance to raise my car on a hoist to look at the exhaust. Am I correct that there is no way to do to this muffler delete without cutting/welding? I was hoping to make this a bolt-on and use a flange but apparently there are none (unless do I remove before resonator as well). Any other alternatives to exhaust mods? I really want to avoid hacking up the OEM exhaust.

Did you cut the the piping before the mufflers and replace it with stainless piping and tips? All for $50?
The places here are charging me $300 for the parts and labour, or $150 if I bring in my own tips.

No, I just had them cut out the mufflers and replace it with a SS tube then fab a new hanger. I kept my stock tips because they are already pretty beefy and are powdercoated black from BMW.
