E60 LCI paralyzed electronics?

1 Attachment(s)
Any ideas what happened to my E60 LCI? I was driving normally 90km/h and suddenly the lights went out, error codes appeared on the screen, the wipers turned on by themselves. When I turned off the car, the central locking did not work and I could not start car again. I tried unplug the IBS cable but it didn’t help. Only the lights come on when I press the start button. Car is 09/2007.

Do a battery load test.

I tested with another car vw vento and the battery voltage dropped 7.49 and 8.40volt. Start took 120A so battery is maybe dead?
Battery is Exide 95ah AGM. Ctek charger said that battery is full before i tested.

Why would you unplug your IBS as a troubleshooting step? Test alternator also which it could be the cause of low voltage. Usually when you see the wipers and lights flash it's the alternator or voltage regulator. I would attempt a jump start to see what happens to at least test the alternator. The car was driving having issues so it tells me the alternator was not changing depleting the battery. A dead battery while driving only cause dash lights and accessory issues

Because someone said on the Finnish BMW forum that IBS can cause that fault. The alternator is replaced 3 months ago, but i have to check charging voltage. New Valeo 170A

I see that is a common thing a lot of people got and suggest when having these type of issues. I personally haven't seen a bad IBS the many years I've been working on BMWs but seems like it's common everywhere else.

Definitely do you due diligence on the battery part of this but do not exclude the alternator either. Also I would check engine bay grounds to be sure they are not what causing the issue

I tested with new 95ah AGM battery today and still doing same thing. Engine ground ok. Cant turn power on, only lights turn on.

Problem solved! It was Webasto control board that caused K-CAN line faults.

Glad you figured it out. Every time someone says something about a webasto I have no clue what they are talking about. Is that a diesel thing?

What were their troubleshooting steps that led you to the Webasto? And good job figuring it out.
