Does anyone know when the 520d will upgrade its engine to the new 177hp 2.0 that is currently fitted to the 3 series coupe 320d.

I am about to order a 520d M-sport and wonder if perhaps it would be prudent to wait for the engine change which is not only more powerful but the emissions are lower as well.

Anyone?

I understood it was likely to be September when the 3 series gets an update, (check the release date for the new Audi A4, BMW will no doubt update the 3 beforehand to compete). There is nothing to confirm this yet.

I was looking through the German forums yesterday and read a number of posts from persons who had driven the E92 320d 177ps coupe. They all commented on what a big improvement the engine was over the current 163ps version, especially with regards to the "lag" which is in undoubtidly one of the current engine's negative points. Check out the 3-series (or 1-series) forums to see what they have to say about the new engine.

Based upon what I read, I would most certainly wait for the new engine to come. No doubt you'll be able to order it within the next couple of months if its going to be delivered from September onwards - your dealer should be able to answer this for you.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day! The dealer is usually the last to know/care/share...!
