E60 key fob wont work after battery disconnect.
My battery died in my e60 while i left my headlights on and i had to jump the car to get it running.
now the key remote will lock the car, but will not unlock the car.
sometimes it wants to lock it and others it wont.
I have never had a problem with the key not working untill the battery died.
what should i do? im trying to get my hands on an owners manual because my car did not come with one
trying to search this issue it problematic, to many search key words and to many of this same post but with differnt bmw's.
from my searching you need two keys to reinitialize.. i only have one.
the car is a pre lci 05 525i. it is not a key fob. it has a key on one end and the top half of the kay has a remote.
help!

Grab a copy of the manual for your car here: Information | 5Series.net
I don't think you need two keys to reinitialize the one you have. But it's not an area I have any current info to help you. That said, it's possible the key battery is failing (this style charges when inserted in the key slot) and you may be in the market to buy replacement keys.

got my hands on a manual, and took a 2 hour drive and it still didnt work.
im giving up. i found a sequence to re initialize the key. it didnt work.
im going to bite the bullet and just buy a new key from bmw for 230$.

Why $230? Go to a BMW near you and walk up to the Parts counter and order a new key. They will ask you for your drivers license and registration. I ordered similar key for $160 at Tulley BMW in Nashua couple of months ago.

Perhaps call your BMW SA and explain to them what happened. They may know what to do for you without the heavy cost of a new key. If not, then buy one.
