Are there any docks similar to ashtray speck.dock but without the ridiculous $150 tag?

What year is your BMW and model?

If under your center counsel you have a place to plug in the wire for charging the iPone or iPod all you need is the one cable. There is no reason to by one to charge and one to play the music. I purchased once cable and its fully interactive with my BMW 2008 550i Sport. Also the phone works as well. I think the cost was $45 for the cable and nothing to do but plug in and your good.

I am thinking to get dice dock and to mount it someplace to have an easy access to iPhone as I am using it as a GPS . Dice DCR-50 is the iPhone dock so far I found.

I have nothing in the center armrest/console just a storage box.
A nice DIY for official apple iphone cradle to ashtray would be awesome.

Bruce/Blood any extreme DIYing on this subject? Or did you guys bite the bullet and went for specdock too?

Keep in mind the docks don't except iphones that are in cases. Or at least the ones I've seen, and they are most likely specific to the phone. Could get quite costly when you decide to get the iPhone 5 and find out that it will not fit... Hopefully, the docks are designed to accept them all, but I seriously doubt it. I have the factory iPod aux and usb in my console and only the nano would work properly. When I plugged in a touch or my phone, they worked but would not charge. Some cars seems to to both, but mine would not. I had to add a power adaptor and buy a second adaptor from BMW for this problem.

Something with a removable dock faceplate would be awesome.
