My Ride: 2010 535d with all the trimmings

I had my E60 ?04 530d (60k miles) serviced (Oil, Oil filter & Air filter).last Monday 27th June.
I Drove away happily knowing it was good for another 19,000 miles (going by the service indicator), I drove all week everything was ok
Until I noticed what I can only describe as shunting when it?s in D and no throttle is pressed.
This was happening on and off when I was at traffic lights or in slow moving traffic.
Yesterday I was driving home when I heard a ding (that lovely bell to tell me there?s something not right) and a warning popped up saying
?Increased emissions ? Fault affecting emissions have the problem checked by BMW service as soon as possible?
And the little amber icon is staying on the dash display.
I rang the mechanic told him the problem, he said he couldn?t understand it! Where did I buy my diesel, it could be water in the tank etc etc
I asked him was the air filter fitted correctly?. ?Yes of course it was? was the reply.
Before he said he?d look into it we went through a list of what might be the problem
Lambda sensor (that would tell me that the emissions are not correct not cause the problem)
Catalytic converter (No blue or black smoke coming out the back)
Water in the diesel (Car is driving smoothly, only for the shunting I described earlier)
Filler cap open (Nope)
Injectors (Hmmmmm)
I described the problem to another mechanic (I didn?t mention the service) his first question was ?was there anyone at the air filter??
I think it?s the car choking and not getting the correct amount of air due to the filter not being fitted correctly.
So what do you guys think it is?
It could be anything, but I got the "increased emissions" warning once just because this "plug" in the picture was loose on the EGR valve (nevermind the other notes in the pic):

Check the other plugs that you can find too.

You are crazy if you go 19,000 miles without an oil change.

No he's not with the longlife oil that is used in our diesel engines. Like Castrol EDGE Sport 0W-40.

Thanks for your tip Anzafin, It's on my to do list, I'll get to the bottom of it yet one way or the other, I'll keep you up to date.
As for the 19,000 between oil changes on the 530D.
The last oil change she got was 18,640 miles ago back in early 2008 and the old oil that came out last week wasn't all that bad at all, what with all those good vitamins and additives in the castrol she was running like a dream, she still is except for that darn emissions warning
I doubt BMW would have the oil service indicator set to 19k unless they knew what they were doing
And yes sir I only use the best fluids for my baby

Hey all Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but in case anyone else comes across the increased emissions warning problem after a service, here's an update
My problem turned out to be a torn air filter! the air filter is a major pain to refit (even for a BMW tech) as it is awkwardly placed and rather big and an odd shape.
So if this happens to you check the air flow before thinking your pride and joy is on it's last legs.
P.S the 04 530D is still going strong, it doesn't get as much use as my 2010 E60 but she's still running like a dream

Hi Road runner
Thanks very much for your post last weekend my 2006 530d sport came out of service on saturday dinnertime
drove it home and the Increased emissons light came on then Half power and engine light. Garage shut!!!
After searching internet found your advice, Air filter had not been fitted correctly.
Air filter was shoved in and the oval opening was squashed up restricting air flow, I refitted it
properly and full power resumed although the engine light did not go out for about 15 miles.
One week later all running fine now Great advice Thanks
