Since my 2007 LCI E61 does not have the optional key switch in the glove box my question is if anyone knows if by coding on E60/E61 it is possible to disable passenger + door airbag for front mountes child seat?
And if that is not possible, can you disconnect the airbags and instead put a resistor in the connector of aprox. 2 ohm as you could on the older BMW:s (E36/E34 etc.)

Look in your hand book and it should explain how your passenger airbag system works, I know mine does. As in mine, if I place my book bag in the seat the AB is diabled, the same when my dog jumps in wanting to go for a ride. There is not enough weight and measurables to indicate a person of proper weight and height is in the seat so the AB is disconnected. If you are able to code it out, what will you do when you have someone sitting in there that is not a child? Also, in most states, don't know about Sweden, it's illeagal to have a child in the front seat of a car. There are several execptions to this law though.

On lci and pre lci with start button you can retrofit the glovebox key switch at the dealer, but it is pretty pricey. I read somewhere it about 5k SEK (I'm also from Sweden..) Pretty annoying since it was a 500 SEK option from the factory.
I guess it is a pretty involved job since there is a indicator light in the roof panel and probably some wiring to be done all the way up there.
